Our story
Cultivate SEL was started by a passionate and devoted educator-school counselor who believes social and emotional learning starts at home.
Founder — educator, school counselor, and SEL specialist with a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling and School Guidance Counseling.
Welcome to Cultivate SEL!
As a passionate and devoted educator-school counselor with a social and emotional learning specialization it has always been important for me to empower parents and families to cultivate and grow social-emotional learning (SEL) at home.
My passion has always been to assist children beyond their academic needs and provide support to children and their families. That is why I decided to pursue a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling and School Guidance Counseling.
During my 20+ years of experience with helping and supporting children and families I have seen first-hand the importance of social and emotional well-being and how parents play an important role in their child's social and emotional development.
I've always believed that social and emotional learning starts at home: the form of social life in which children are nurtured and the education of character starts. The positive relationships built at home have a significant impact on children's social and emotional outcomes. Children with healthy social and emotional skills are more likely to succeed in school, work, and life!
I started Cultivate SEL because I recognize that children require assistance in cultivating social and emotional skills, as these abilities do not develop fully on their own. Cultivate SEL helps parents teach these skills to their children at home, creating opportunities for them to apply these skills, and influencing their attitudes about themselves, others, and the environment. Cultivate SEL provides the knowledge and tools for instruction, modeling, and encouragement at home!
I believe that children have the power within them: all they need is the help of their loved ones to grow and cultivate these skills.
Cultivate SEL aims to help cultivate the growth of social and emotional learning at home by providing parents and families with the necessary tools and resources to support their child's development.
I want children to be successful in life as well as having a personal sense of well-being for them to become knowledgeable, responsible, caring, and emotionally resilient adults.
